Santa Fe Motels and Hotels
So you have decided to go visit Santa Fe.
There are a few things you should know about the choices of lodging you have in the area and where the lodging is in Santa Fe.
If you are visiting the "City Different" for a few days and want a hotel or motel, there is quite a selection. One thing must be kept in mind and that is location of the hotel or motel and if you plan on having a car.
Because the city is designed with roads and a city plan from the late 1600's you will find that the motel and hotels downtown close to the plaza are where you will probably not want to have a car if that is where you plan on spending all your time. The streets are small and tough to navigate and parking is sometimes limited.
Most restaurants, shops, and museums are a walk away. But this area is the most expensive, and the motels and hotels are not familiar chains you may be comfortable with.
The downtown properties are unique places to stay without a question, and if you want to experience true Santa Fe ambiance. The El Dorado Hotel, Inn of the Anasazi, La Fonda, Inn on the Alameda, Loretto Inn, Inn of the Governors, Hotel St Francis, and La Posada Hotel are the choicest.
If you have a car and do not want to spend so much, Cerrillos Rd is where you will find many options.
There are unique motels still a little walk from the plaza like Santa Fe Motel that offer a breakfast and a low price, as well as the chains.
You can find Fairfield Inn, (which offers breakfast and high speed wireless internet connection) Holiday Inn,(with a Santa Fe Design, their own restaurant, and close to the mall) Marriott Courtyard, Red Roof Inn, Budget Inn, Comfort Suites and Hampton Inn to name a few of the chains.
Some of the other motels on Cerrillos Rd. that are not chains, offer Santa Fe ambiance with a little distance form the downtown area, and a lower price are El Rey Inn, and King's Rest Court.
There are rentals if you want to stay awhile. You can go to a suites location like Camel Rock Suites or Fort Marcy Suites which has kitchens and enough space to spread out even for a small family.
There are also rentals available with a few properties like Grant Corner Inn and Alexander's Inn that are called "casitas" and have more of the Santa Fe charm and ambiance.
Individuals also rent out their homes- some all year long, - others for the summer or winter season. The Best Views in Santa Fe is such a home with plenty of space for a family or two with great privacy, views, and other amenities.
Kokopelli Management is a firm that has rentals for vacationers as well.
Camping is also an option in Santa Fe. There are two RV Parks/Campgrounds just outside the city. KOA is one which has a playground and game room. Rancheros DeSanta Fe is the other and they also have cabins, and a swimming pool.
Wherever you choose to stay you can count on New Mexico hospitality to make it a great visit.
I hope we made your choices easier when you decide on where to stay on your next visit to Santa Fe.
